Biography

Isabella Ennes (*2000) is a composer, orchestrator and arranger; originally from London, based between the UK and Denmark. In 2023, she graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a First Class Honours in BMus (Hons) Composition. Between 2021-22, she spent a year studying as an exchange student at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Aarhus, Denmark.
She has worked with many different kinds of musicians, from individual opera singers to larger instrumental ensembles. So far, she has seen her works receive premieres across the UK and Denmark, and in addition, worked with musicians in countries including Belgium and Bulgaria.
She has had the pleasure of being commissioned to write for concerts and albums, including world renowned Esbjerg Ensemble (DK) and Orchestra of the Swan/Thallein Ensemble (UK).
Her main musical love is opera, which comes in addition to her passion for all sorts of instrumental and vocal music. She is keen to try new things, and prides herself in being attentive, daring and innovative.

Spent my 3rd year of my undergraduate studying in Aarhus, Denmark. Highlights of said year included premieres at the Panorma Festival (Aarhus) and by the Esbjerg Ensemble (Esbjerg).

Highlights of undergraduate included writing for Yugen Saxophone Quartet, receiving my first album commission from oboist Elly Barlow and composing, directing and delivering the music from parts of my opera in construction.
